July 28, 2009 - Buffalo Wild Wings - Waterford Lakes, Orlando, FL
Last night, my wife and I and my two step-children went to Buffal Wild Wings in Orlando. I used to love this place when I was in college, but maybe that was because I was drinking beer at that time, but now I have a family so having a couple of beers prior to driving the family home is a big no-go. I also had a different perspective on restaurant service prior to having children introduced into my life. I used to just deal with the few minor issues I might have with my meal and If I did not like something, I would just change my order the next time. Children are much less forgiving. Last night I asked for Honey Mustard to go with my Step-Daughter's chicken tenders. The honey mustard was not delivered with the meal, no big deal, I will just ask for some, but our waitress kept dissappearing. She could not wait to get away from our table so she could go chat it up with her fellow servers. When I finally got some honey mustard it was not at all what a child would like. Doesn't this restaurant know that kids like sweet honey mustard with their chicken? I admit, I did not know this before I had children living with me, but now I do and it is a must, some kids just won't eat without it. I have gotten them to the point where they will eat chicken without the honey mustard at home, but at a restaurant they still expect it. I am getting really fed up with restaurants too. Money is too tight to take the family out and have everyone complain. Its easier and much less expensive to just keep them at home, at least then when they complain about my cooking, it did not cost me fifty bucks.
Back to the wings, my wife ordered boneless wings with sweet barbeque sauce. It was congealed to the wings. Time to change out he sauce pan I think.
I had spicy garlic boneless wings, and as a treat, some traditional hot wings. They were O.K., but I am pretty much over the sauces here, I like a traditional buffalo wing with a buttery yet vinegary based sauce, the kind of sauce I just know is contributing to my future heart disease, but hey wings are a treat, not for everyday consumption.
My step son, sucked his food down so quickly I don't know if he even tasted it so that is either good or bad, but nothing very valuable to report there.
Unlike the other day at Olive Garden, our drinks were all good, and that is important.
Worst part of the experience: Not sure if it was the service or the bill. Forty-Five bucks and no alcohol. A bit steep for overcooked chicken for four.
